In addition to the specific challenges of adolescence, orphaned and maltreated adolescents face problems resulting from the loss of their families, which causes much harm to these individuals. This study aimed to compare the effectiveness of well-being therapy and existentialism acceptance and commitment therapy on adolescents' self-concept in the Welfare Alternative Care Center. The research method was quasi-experimental a pre-test and post-test design was implemented with a control group and a three-month follow-up. In this study, 45 adolescents aged 12 to 18 were selected through random sampling and randomly assigned to two experimental groups and a control group. Then, the well-being therapy experimental group underwent eight sessions. The existentialism acceptance and commitment therapy experimental group underwent ten sessions of treatment, and the control group did not receive any treatment. All three groups were assessed with a self-concept questionnaire before, after, and three months after the intervention. The results showed that both the well-being therapy intervention and the existential acceptance and commitment therapy had a significant difference on the self-concept and its components of adolescents residing in welfare family-like centers (p<0.001). Also, the results of the Bonferroni post hoc test showed that the mean scores of the existential acceptance and commitment group in general self-concept, physical attractiveness, job ability, and moral issues were significantly higher than the well-being therapy and control groups (p<0.001), and only in the components of mental ability and social skills, the difference between the two treatment groups wasn't significant, and both methods showed similar effectiveness.
